Sword Art Online Progressive Sequel Movie Reveals Main Trailer, Scherzo of Deep Night

The anime movie series with the world’s longest title continues!! The sequel to the 2021 anime movie Sword Art Online Progressive: Aira of a Starless Night, Sword Art Online -Progressive- Scherzo of Deep Night! The continuation is set to release in October 2022 and is set in the same Aicnrad as the SAO anime’s first arc.

The progressive series serves as an expanded retelling of Sword Arts’ first arc but this time from the very first stages of the epic adventure we all know and love. Originally a light novel, each volume covers one floor in the Sword Art Online game. The first movie that covered the light novels, Aria of a Starless Night, covered floor one and now the upcoming movie has us skipping to floor 5 of SAO meaning we’ll be skipping to the fourth volume of the series whose title is “Scherzo of Deep Night“. The first volume of SAO Progressive was released on October 10th, 2012, just 3 years after the first light novel of the original series was released. Sword Art Online Progressive has since gone on to publish 8 volumes with the latest one having been released on June 10th, 2021 in Japan and on June 7th, 2022 in English.

Volume 4 of Sword Art Online: Progressive is described as:
Two months since they’ve been trapped in the death game that is Sword Art Online, Kirito and Asuna continue to struggle their way through the game. This brings them to the fight floor of Aincrad, a mazelike ruin where the two take pleasure in raiding it for the treasure held within. Upon returning to the fourth floor the two do some questing on Elf Lord Yofilis’ behalf. Soon after Asuna is forced to face one of her least favorite monsters ever…

Oh and SAO announced a new live stage performance as well where they plan to use the latest theater technology to bring the action of SAO to life.
