Aniplex Online Fest 2022 just happened, and it revealed a new trailer for the upcoming TV Anime based on the original Rurouni Kenshin Manga by Nobuhiro Watsuki. The anime is set to premiere in 2023. Aiming to remake the mainline manga series with a new polish.
The series is being made by LIDEN FILMS, with character designs by Terumi Nishii (DARLING in the FRANXX, Death Note, Pokemon & more), Hideyuki Kurata for the series composition (Goblin Slayer, Made in Abyss, Tokyo Ravens & more), Yu Takami doing music for the series (Library Wars & Rainbow), and the last but not least Hideyo Yamamoto (Bleach, Ghost in the Shell SAC, Re: Zero, & so much more) directing the series. About Rurouni Kenshin:
The manga was first launched in 1994 by author Nobuhiro Watsuki, and was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump by Shueisha, and follows Kenshin Himura who used to be a dangerous assassin and is now trying to find a new life without violence or killing.
The manga relaunched with a new arc in 2017 as part of the Jump SQ magazine by Shueisha titled Rurouni Kenshin: Hokkaido Arc but quickly went on hiatus in December of that year when the author was officially charged for possession of child pornography. The hiatus didn’t last long as in June 2018 it began publication once more.
The manga has had FIVE live-action movies, a musical, an anime film, and of course the original anime series we all know.
